Catch our film Beyond The River on Showmax

If you haven’t seen Heartlines’ film Beyond the River, you’re in luck, as it will be screening on Showmax from 10 January – 31 March 2019.

Based on a true story about Siseko Ntondini and Piers Cruikshanks, an unlikely duo who formed a team to take on the toughest canoe race in South Africa, the Dusi Canoe Marathon.

In order for the two men to achieve their goal, they have to face their individual obstacles, as well as learn to trust one another. Trust is achieved when they both let down their guard and share their life stories with one another.

By doing so they find commonality, despite their vast backgrounds and form an unbreakable bond.

Acclaimed actors Grant Swanby (Blood Diamond and Mandela – Long Walk to Freedom and Invictus) gives a stellar performance as the embattled Steve who has to deal with personal demons that are tearing his marriage apart, while  Lemogang Tsipa (The Dark Tower, When We Were Black and Traffic!) brings to life the story of  Duma in a heartfelt performance.

Since its release in 2017, the film has won a Golden Horn award for Best Achievement in Cinematography in a Feature film at the South African Film and Television Awards, and recently Lemogang walked away with the BRICS Film Festival award for best actor in 2018 for his performance.
