Shantel

Shantel Shabally Segolela

 1 October 1975 – 25 September 2018

It was with great sadness that we as the Heartlines team bade farewell to our dear colleague, Shantel Sharon Segolela, one of our Team Leads.

Shantel was born and raised in Lenasia South, Johannesburg. She grew up in the church – Christian Revival Centre, where she was a youth leader, and inspired many emerging leaders to live lives with purpose.

After high school, she continued her Christian ministry work with Youth for Christ Team, a group that travelled to schools in South Africa and the USA, using singing, theatre and dance to spread the gospel. After her two years on team she went on to be a youth development leader with the Siyithemba  school upliftment program in Soweto and Eikenhof  and concluded her career with YFC as a Director at the Youth for Christ Amakhaya Children’s Home.

She went on to work as a case management officer at the Metal and Engineering Bargaining Council. Shantel returned to development working with Young and Able and Heartlines as a senior facilitator returning to her love of working with communities and empowering those working in the corporate world.

Joining Heartlines full time two years ago, Shantel was a facilitator in the Values and Money and What’s Your Story programmes, where her powerful presence made a huge impact in churches, schools, workplace and communities around South Africa. Shantel was extremely dedicated to her work, and her bubbly, enthusiastic and articulate personality was an irreplaceable asset to our organisation. She served with passion and we were privileged to have her work with us.

Shantel was a dedicated wife and mother, so proud of her daughter Azania, and so proud of the statement about diversity that her marriage to Sthembiso represented.

Shantel’s zeal for life, her infectious laughter, stylish wardrobe and her friendship will be sorely missed. Our prayers go out to her family and friends at this sad time.
